The first three minutes
Open the downloaded file and drag Dita to your Applications folder. On first use it asks for three permissions:
- Microphone, to hear you.
- Input Monitoring, to know you held the key.
- Accessibility, to paste the text into the app in focus.
Input Monitoring and Accessibility come with the grave warning macOS shows for any app that asks for them. In Dita, each one does a single thing: one knows about your key, the other pastes the text. Reading your screen or logging what you type, never.
Paste your API key, hold the key, speak, release. That is it.
Already using Dita?
Dita tells you in the menu bar when a new version is out, and the notice carries its number.
To update: quit Dita from the menu, download it here again and drag it over the one in Applications. Quitting first matters. With the app open, macOS accepts the swap and you keep running the old version until you close and reopen it.
Your license, your settings and the three permissions stay as they are: none of that lives inside the application.
